I. Sustainable Development Goals
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development are composed of a set of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to be accomplished within a 15-year plan for a better society, planet and prosperity. Through sustainable development, we, as a global community, seek to strengthen universal peace in larger freedom, eradicate poverty in all its forms, recognize global human rights of all and to achieve gender equality as well as the empowerment of all women and girls. The SDGs are integrated, indivisible and balance the three dimensions of sustainable development: the economic, social and environmental.
Since the adoption of the SDGs, young people have been active in promoting and initiating the implementation of the Sustainable Development Agenda. In 2016, for example, the Asia-Pacific region witnessed the establishment of a youth network entitled 2030 Youth Force. With members from over 10 Asian-Pacific countries, this network continues to spread awareness and advocate for the SDGs among youth in the region.
