Wangchuk Dema, Bhutan
Wangchuk Dema graduated last year with a double degree in B.A Economics and Environmental Studies. She is currently undergoing training in a Post-graduate Diploma in Public Administration (PGDPA) at the Royal Institute of Management (RIM) after finishing within the top 12 in the highest government examination last year and will be joining the civil service next year. She has a huge passion for volunteerism and has been volunteering throughout her schooling and college life. Wangchuk has co-founded and led several youth groups. She has received the highest honour student award for her leadership and youth advocacy on various youth issues in her college and in the vicinity. Currently, she is the National Coordinator of Y-PEER Bhutan and recently been elected as the International Coordinator for Y-PEER which mainly focuses on the sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) of young people. Wangchuk strongly believes in gender equality and tackling violence against women and vulnerable youth groups. She is passionate about feminism, girl empowerment and the power of education. |
